I’ve put this FAQ page together to help answer any questions you might have about sessions, my process and policies. If your question isn’t answered here then please do get in touch.
Q: What should we expect during the shoot?
Children can run around, shout, jump, dress up, whatever keeps them amused and makes them more willing to have their picture taken. A session generally doesn’t go well when parents ask their children to “sit still” or “smile” – it’s meant to be fun! Just trust that I want nothing more than to capture the types of images that drew you to my work in the first place.
Q: How long will the shoot take?
Each session will vary in length but can take anywhere between 1 to 3 hours dependent on various factors including your child’s age and mood. Newborn and baby sessions may take up to 4 hours as they don’t always like to fit snuggly into a given time slot.
Q: Where do you usually take pictures?
All kinds of places can make great locations – a field, a city street, a derelict building, a park, your home. For children’s shoots we ask that you try and choose somewhere where your child is comfortable and won’t get bored easily.
Q: What happens after the shoot?
I’ll make the initial edits before presenting you with the best images within 1-2 weeks of the shoot date. Images will be uploaded to a password protected gallery for you and friends to view. Once your selection has been made your images will be fully retouched and made available for download or sent on CD.
Q. How long do you keep our images?
Your images are kept forever however I usually archive each session 60 days after all product orders have been delivered. Should you ever wish to view the images again or place any further orders just let me know, but as they are stored offsite there will be a £25 charge to retrieve them. Unfortunately I do not have the hard drive space needed to store images indefinitely therefore images from sessions with no orders 90 days from the session date will be deleted.
Q: How long will our orders take to be delivered?
With digital files orders can now be delivered as soon as payment has been recieved.
Q: Can we purchase our images on disk?
Absolutely. There are currently two Digital Packages available, 5 images or 10 images. Please get in touch for prices.
Q: Do you photograph weddings?
Yes, even though I don’t actively advertise the fact. I only book a few a year so please get in touch if this is something that you’ like to discuss further.
Q: What should we wear?
I’d prefer you to be comfortable so dress accordingly but please no large logo’s and prints as these do tend to date the images. For children’s shoots, costumes and dressing up is encouraged. Newborns and babies are best photographed in nothing but their birthday suit…and hats. I’d also suggest a change of clothes, whether its a few different layers or a complete change of outfit. Did I mention no stripes?
