Spektre – A few more DJ Press Shots, Birmingham

So, I’ve change my mind on which image is my favourite from the recent shoot I did with Techno producers, Spektre. The image on the left was shot in the same way as the previous shot I posted but the focus is on them as opposed to the perspex. They are also slightly closer to the perspex and the power of the camera right flash has been increased. As a result I think it’s may be a more intriguing image, I don’t know. Feel free to let me know what you think in the comments.

The image on the right is my first attempt at using HDR Tone Mapping on a portrait. I really like this technique at the moment, especially for bringing out detail in backgrounds. The initial effect was far too strong so I’ve combined the Tone Mapped image with the original exposure using a layer mask. The shot was lit with a Lastolite Ezybox and a 580EX at camera right.

Alan - Thanks for the comments :)

Vinita - Cool shots!Totally love the perspectives!Very edgy, modern!

tamara - wow! I love the left image..intriguing indeed!! I know far too little about off camera flash…would love to learn more..you did an amazing job!

Andy - I really like different aspects of both shots. For colours, lighting and contrast, the second tone-mapped shot is my favourite – I think the processing works really well. The blue of the doors is amazing. And the detail on the coke can is sublime =)

As a press shot, I prefer the perspex image. It is edgy, different and the texture works really well. Plus with a name like Spektre, the slightly ethereal – maybe even sketchy – look about the shot is spot on.

Nice work.
