Something everyone should be told about Babies

At almost 8 months old Milo is changing everyday. Pulling himself up to sit (then promptly falling over), grabbing & chewing everything in sight with his two little teeth and just other day tormenting us with the imminent threat of crawling. Super. Can’t wait. Its all part of having a baby I suppose but there’s one particular thing that bothers me. Who am I kidding, I find it pretty disturbing….

We’ve been told that loud, guttural growling is perfectly normal. Seriously? Have you seen the Exorcist? There’s no head spinning but it’s still pretty bizarre and I really wish someone had warned me about it! It freaks me out every time. I really hope he grows out of it…I doubt he’ll be able to hold a job down for very long if he doesn’t!!

[Update] Since writing he has moved out of this phase and entered a high pitched ‘squealing’ phase. 92db. Thats about as loud as having a lawnmower in your living room.

Alan - Thanks Theresa. The growling was funny, worrying but funny. It has since stopped and he now howls like some kind of wolf. He’s sitting and crawling now (nearly standing unaided too) so we’re currently childproofing the house. Odd creatures babies :)
Oh, he was born in December.

Theresa - oh and when was Milo born?

Theresa - Hey Alan, I came across your blog via Olli and Lime. Your son Milo is a charmer indeed. Not to worry about the grunting though my little guy (Balin)is eight months now and does the same thing. The worst is when we are out in public at a quite place. It comes out of now where. When he starts he also clenches his first and tightens his arms and legs. I am worried one of these days I am going to get caught in the crossfire as we regularly have a wrestle about on the carpet.

Maybe we should get them together to form a little grunting gang ;)

Oh yeah and Balin is already crawling and starting to walk so good luck to you with that when Milo’s time comes as I am frantically following Balin everywhere…in and out of cabinets as he has super human strength to open them. He already knows which cabinents to get his bottles from and which ones have the cleaners. I am thank my lucky stars we don’t have stairs in our flat!

Well tata…
Hope all is well for you and the Mrs and baby Milo.
